Spending more time with patients while preserving a warm, family atmosphere. That was Florence Bustin’s aim when redesigning her pharmacy. Automation, digitalisation and new consultation spaces would help the team provide more personalised care.

Since the installation of the Meditech pharmacy robot, the team has more time for advice and conversation. While the robot retrieves medicines, staff can talk to patients about vaccination, prevention and their health. The team has stayed the same, but their daily work has changed: less time spent putting medicines away means more time for patients.

The pharmacy also has four dedicated spaces for remote consultations, sport and orthopaedics, oncology and wellbeing, and pharmacist consultations and vaccinations.

Although Florence initially had some reservations about the technology, six months later she wonders how the team ever managed without it. The robot has even been given a name, chosen by the team: Joé.
