More time for conversation, training and patient care. At Northolt Pharmacy, formerly Gokani Chemist, automation is helping the team develop its services while preserving the personal approach its community values.

With a history spanning 46 years, the pharmacy is entering a new chapter. Two daughters from the founding family have taken over alongside two new partners, bringing plans for growth while maintaining the pharmacy’s longstanding community focus.

For Rakhee Jacobs, introducing a Meditech robot was about making everyday processes quicker and creating more opportunities for personal interaction. Staff are encouraged to use the time gained to talk to customers and provide the attentive service they appreciate.

Automation has also made putting stock away easier and reduced repetitive tasks. The team now has more time for training, helping the pharmacy expand the services it can offer.

Although installing a robot while remaining open initially felt daunting, Rakhee describes the experience as overwhelmingly positive. The installation team worked around staff and customers, taking care to accommodate the pharmacy’s daily activities. The training provided also helped the team adapt to the change.
